Day 6: Silence and the interior life

The sixth day attends to Saint Maximilian's hidden interior life, the foundation of his external apostolate.

The interior Carmel

Saint Maximilian's days were filled with publishing, printing, preaching, and administrative work, but the engine of all of it was his hours of silent prayer before the tabernacle and his contemplation of the Marian mysteries. Without the interior Catholic life, the apostolate had nothing to give.

Prayer

Saint Maximilian, teach me to be silent before God. Help me to make space in my own busy day for quiet prayer, contemplation of the Catholic mysteries, and listening for the Lord. Amen.
