The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Novena
Day 4: Star of the Sea
The fourth day addresses Mary as Star of the Sea (Stella Maris), the title invoking her as guide of voyagers and souls.
Mary, Star of the Sea
The title Stella Maris is among the most ancient Marian titles in the Catholic tradition. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux preached on it: "If the winds of temptation arise, if you are driven upon the rocks of tribulation, look to the Star, call on Mary." Mount Carmel is a coastal mountain; the sea is visible from its peak.
Prayer
Mary, Star of the Sea, in the storms of this life be my guide. Direct me to the safe harbor of your Son. Where I lose my bearings, light the way. Amen.
Conclude with one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be.
