Day 3: The Militia of the Immaculata

The third day attends to the Catholic apostolate Saint Maximilian founded in 1917: the Militia Immaculatae (Knights of the Immaculata).

The Knights of the Immaculata

On October 16, 1917, in Rome, the young Franciscan Maximilian gathered six companions and founded the Militia Immaculatae as a Catholic association of laypeople and religious dedicated to total consecration to Mary and to the conversion of sinners through Marian intercession. Within years the Knights had grown to thousands; by 1939 to over a million members across Catholic Europe.

Prayer

Saint Maximilian, you who founded the Knights of the Immaculata for the salvation of souls, enroll me too in your apostolate. Make my daily life an act of consecration to Mary and of intercession for those who do not yet know her Son. Amen.
