Rita's husband Paolo was violent and harsh. She bore his treatment for eighteen years and is reported to have softened him by her constant prayer. He was eventually killed in a Cascia feud.

Saint Rita, intercede for marriages that suffer today. Sustain wives in difficult homes. Where reconciliation is possible, accomplish it. Amen.
