Day 5: The flight into Egypt

The fifth day attends to the family's flight as refugees into Egypt to escape Herod's slaughter of the Holy Innocents.

Family in danger

The Holy Family was a refugee family. Saint Joseph led them by night across desert into a foreign land. The Catholic family that suffers persecution, displacement, or loss has a model in the Holy Family who endured all three.

Prayer

Holy Family, you who fled into Egypt as refugees, watch over families today who suffer displacement, war, and persecution. Comfort them as you were comforted. Where our own family faces danger, lead us through it. Amen.
